Of course, all that you really care about is that I’ve been doing Web Design, SEO and Online Marketing for the last 5 years and have learned what it takes to launch a successful business and get TONS of exposure online.
Before starting JC Web I looked around at the local competition and realized that Connecticut (and other states in the US; we serve all of the United States and Canada) didn’t need another web design and online marketing company, it needed a better one. All over the web I saw web shops claiming to offer SEO and that they could get you seen online. When further investigated however, they proved how little they really knew about ACTUAL SEO. Either they would completely leave out entire ranking factors critical to success like Link Building and Off site SEO, or they would speak of things that worked 5-10 years ago that no longer work today. When looking at the fancy graphs measuring their factors of ‘success’, all that would be tracked was simply traffic increases to their clients website. But where was this traffic from? Who knows, it didn’t tell you. They could all be bots from Russia for all we know, without the analytics software and proper measures in place to track it. No talk of return on investment, increase in leads or sales whatsoever.
At that point I knew I wanted to make my company different; a company that doesn’t simply measure success based on ‘website traffic (which can be faked/gamed)’ but instead REAL world things that business owners care about; conversions. Business owners don’t care if they get thousands of hits of traffic a month if it doesn’t positively effect their business and give a ROI. That’s why success at JC Web is measured strictly by conversion rate; that is, things like number of online sales, number of leads generated by contact forms, phone calls to the business from the website and so on.
So rather than just create another web design company, I specialize instead in offering a complete on-line business solution for small to medium sized businesses.
What does that mean? What’s the difference between the two?
What many people believe is that once they have a website built they are on their way to financial success. They believe that their website will automatically come up on Google’s search results and it’s just a matter of time before they get the exposure they need and success is sure to follow.
The reality is that this couldn’t be farther from the truth.
Besides having a properly designed web page, are you sure your potential customers are able to find you on searches? The yellow pages are obsolete. 97% of people use the internet to find local businesses now; having just the website isn’t enough. ‘Build it and they will come’ couldn’t be any farther from the truth when it comes to websites. There is simply too much competition and too many spam websites taking up space for that to be the case.
Besides this, the only thing worse than having no website is having a poorly designed or out of date one. Local business look-ups account for over 40% of mobile searches. Is your website built to be responsive and display properly on phones and tablets? If it was built prior to 2014 the answer is probably not (and unfortunately, sometimes even websites built after this time frame weren’t built to be properly responsive if the web design shop was not keeping up with the times as many fail to do). Their phone or tablet will still attempt to interpret the site however and will end up displaying it in a mangled and/or unreadable way, leaving a poor impression on the prospect who is probably wondering why this company hasn’t been keeping up with the times.
